Applesauce

Ingredients

o   8 apples, peeled, cored, and quartered*

o   1 cup water

o   ½ tsp cinnamon

Directions

1.     Combine the apples, water, and cinnamon in a large pot. Bring to a boil over medium heat then reduce the heat to medium low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10-20 minutes until the apples have softened.

2.     Mash the apples with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency (I like to keep a decent amount of apple chunks).

3.     Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

*Use your favorite apples, but I’d also recommend McIntosh, Macoun, Honeycrisp, or Crispin.

This is always the first thing to go on Thanksgiving every year. It’s simply the best applesauce. My mom has been making it for decades and I was shocked to discover a few years ago that she uses absolutely no sugar. But that’s because you absolutely don’t need it as the apples do all the work! Lastly, who doesn’t love a recipe that’s only 3 ingredients?!
