Hibiscus Sun Tea
Ingredients
o 3 liters water
o 5 hibiscus tea bags
o ½ lemon, juiced
o ¼ cup honey*
Directions
1. Combine the water, tea bags, lemon juice, and honey in a large glass jug. Either stir everything or close the jug and shake it to combine everything.
2. Let the jug sit in the sun for around 4 hours.
3. Remove the tea bags, pour some tea over ice, and enjoy!
Notes
*For a sweeter tea, add more honey.
A few years ago my mom brought me “Hemingway Sun Tea” from Key West after visiting Hemingway’s house with my nana. This started my interest in making sun tea. I’ve never loved hot fruity teas, but I’ve found I enjoy them much more as sun tea poured over ice. This is one of those teas as most hibiscus tea is actually hibiscus berry tea (either version works for this recipe).
